In a recent straw poll, the residents of Lakewood Ranch voted against the submission of a bill to the Florida Legislature to incorporate Lakewood Ranch as it’s own city. The accounting firm, Kerkering-Barberio indicated that 56.5 percent of the 4,154 votes cast were against incorporation. Incorporation would have resulted in increased services to the Lakewood Ranch area but would also result in increased property taxes for Lakewood Ranch residents.
